What can I say about this little gem of a place very quaint clean and comfortable but it is the staff who really make this place the kind you want to go back to. A big thank you to Shafi for his help much appreciated

A hidden sanctuary away from the chaotic frenzy of Main Bazaar. The staff were very helpful and the rooms absolutely charming. So much better than a bland generic hotel.
The internal stairs are not suited to mobility impaired. Finding took some navigation but with the map from Danish and using Krishna Rooftop Restaurant as a starting point, we found our way.

I have been visiting India since 1982. Diya Bed and Breakfast is a perfect location in old Delhi close to both Rama Krishna Ashram Marg Metro Station and New Delhi Railway Station (in the middle between the two). Rooms, cleanliness and breakfast is all great. Staff are all exceptional, friendly and flexible. The owner Danish has a very interesting background as he is an outstanding entrepreneur who started his life as a street child in Delhi after he at the age of 7 ran away from his village in Bihar due to lack of food. He spend 8 years on New Delhi Railway Station. With the help of good organisations he worked his way up. He has university degrees from India and Bristol. A true rolemodel that participates in conferences and is now writing his self biography. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Cleanliness of the accommodation interior
Lots of things. 1. Diya offered a taxi pick up from the station to which we agreed, it was just a taxi flagged at the airport. We later realised the amount charged for this journey was hugely excessive (INR2000). 2. The room was very dark and very little air. 3. Despite building on its association with street children charity, other than 1 photo on the wall, this was not apparent and neither did anyone offer any service such as the walking tour which we had read about on Booking.com or suggestions of what to see etc. It was very hands off. 3. The backstreet on whch Diya is set is very dirty and unhygienic, even outside the entry to Diya. It is full of filth and awfully unpleasant to walk down. We left after 2 nights despite paying for 3 and moved to a better property in terms of location and facilities- I am so glad I did. I wouldn't stay there again.
