Abbotshall

Great location

Lovely large room, clean and comfortable. Enjoyed the hot chocolate in the room.

Check in was a bit chaotic. Had no idea where to go, approached the bar where we were ignored at first. Asked where we check in, we were told here. But we had to wait until 4 members of staff took a photo of someone on the other side of the bar. Breakfast wasnt until 9am, we left before this.

Hotel is in an EXCELLENT location - in the centre of Kirkcaldy, within easy walking distance of shops/pubs/ restaurants/bus station/train station. We (couples x 2) had 2 x quad rooms so we had LOADS of space (I have stayed previously in one of the Abbotshall's twin rooms, which was pokey in comparison) Rooms had a good amount of storage (perhaps could benefit from a few more coat hangers) Shower room was of a good size and the shower pressure was good and hot water plentiful. Room (6) had 3 openable windows, which allowed for great air-flow (and was not too noisy during the night). We ate breakfast at the hotel on the Sunday and it was fantastic - good value and delicious food. Staff in the hotel bit and the pub area were very nice and friendly. Car parking is a bonus (though you are not guaranteed a spot)

In room 6, there is only one mirror (in the shower room), which wasn't very good for getting yourself ready in the morning. Would be VERY useful to mount a mirror next to a plug socket for hair drying purposes (luckily I have been caught out by this issue previously so take a small mirror with me - this room was clearly designed by a man 🤣). The blinds on the windows do let in a fair amount of light so take an eye mask if you are easily bothered by light (I did)

The bedroom is very clean and carpet is good.

Shower is small. I note shampoo and body wash is not here. Breakfast is good but it’s very expensive.
