Tara's House is lovely sitting on a great spot looking out with panoramic views of Lough Foyle. Fantastic place for a family holiday. Great hosts would thoroughly recommend.

We stayed for a week for the Open. We wanted a place within an hour of the tournament, but close to golf for us, as well as more rustic setting to enjoy the area. We got all of that and more. Sheep baying, farms all around, and a incredible view of the loch from the back porch. Greencastle was a nice little town and Derry was 1/2 hour and provided rich history, and great food, and classic bars. The house was clean, had everything we needed, and cozy. Our only suggestion would be more control over temperature. The house was always too hot, but we understood because a extreme heat wave came through while we were there. Nothing some open windows didn't fix.

So close to being a really first class place. The welcome was sweet even though we never actually got to meet Kate and Gavin personally. The views are stellar. Truly stunning and something we all enjoyed. The house is very roomy. It just needs a thorough cleaning inside and out and small things like detergent for the washing machine so that guests don't have to go find and purchase a box for one or two loads of laundry, easy access to the clothesline, towel hooks near the showers and at the least hand soap in the bathrooms... Minor adjustments would make a big difference for guests. We also weren't thrilled about having to pay extra to take the trash out behind the house. That seems a bit redundant after paying handsomely to stay there. We had an early flight in Belfast and having to do chores in the dark and the rain that we assumed we were already paying for made us raise an eyebrow. Thank goodness we didn't have to go searching for glass recycling in one of the villages also. Personally, when on holiday, we don't go looking for work, no matter how small the job. We are leaving our daily drudgery at home and paying handsomely for that small but very important luxury. And while not ideal, asking for the trash to be taken out isn't actually that unreasonable. Asking paying guests to pay for trash disposal is a whole other ballgame. It seems a shame that such a small thing made such a big impression. It wasn't the takeaway we had hoped for.
Tara's House is a contemporary, luxury holiday home with 4 bedrooms to sleep 8 people. It is set well back from the road protected by a large rock outcrop that ensures privacy. You can hear the waterfall at the top of the site from the garden. The house has spectacular sea views overlooking Lough Foyle, the Atlantic and the Antrim coast. There are large hardwood picture windows to make the most of the views from within, and a spacious patio to enjoy the views and sea air from the garden. The house is a 10-minute walk to a blue flag beach - Big White Bay. Tara's House is on the route of the Wild Atlantic Way and on path of the Inishowen Head walk, and it's a short walk away from Stroove lighthouse (next to the Blue Flag Beach). It is also on the route of the beautiful 'Inishowen 100' scenic drive. There is one very large open plan living area with windows/doors to 3 sides giving superb sea and countryside views, 4 bedrooms, 2 with en-suite shower room and a third bathroom. The house is fully equipped to a very high standard with underfloor heating throughout. The house is approx. 3 km from Greencastle village and about 8km from the seaside town of Moville where there are restaurants and cafes.
Activities in the area include sailing, shore walks, shopping, theatre and cinema in Derry or Letterkenny, summer festivals, sea angling, golfing (Greencastle, Ballyliffen and Redcastle), hill walking, scenic drives, Greencastle Maritime Museum, Guns of Dunree Military Museum, The Cairn Visitors Centre, Doagh Island Famine Village and Malin Head - Irelands most northerly point.
