Located right next to the jetty with the dive shop on Dayan, this place is great value for the money! The manta point near Dayan is like five minutes away with a boat and one day a lot (and I mean A LOT) of big mantas showed up in the water right outside our rooms, where they stayed feeding on plankton and jellyfishes for two hours. Probably one of the best snorkeling experiences ever.
Food at this homestay is really good, they served a lot of fresh fish when we were there. The huts are a bit rustic but have comfy beds with good mosquito nets. The staff speaks good english and it was easy to arrange transports and diving with them!

Wir waren Mitte Nov 25 6 Tage auf der Dayan Insel und haben uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt. Jedoch sind wir gleich nach Ankunft vom Elsa Homestay in eine Hütte des direkt angrenzende Dayan Dive Homestay gewechselt, da es meiner Frau nicht möglich sowohl die letzte Stufe hinauf zu unserer Hütte im Elsa Homestay als auch die letzte Stufe zur direkt daneben liegenden Hütte, in dem sich der Essbereich befand, hinaufzusteigen, da der Höhenunterschied extrem hoch war (für sportlichere Gäste wohl kein Problem.) Wir haben leckeres Essen bekommen und sind herzlich von allen auf der Insel Lebenden aufgenommen worden. Erster Ansprechpartner vor Ort war Habel . Er versteht sehr gut englisch und wir konnten uns mit jeder Frage an ihn wenden, wie z.B. die Regelung für die Aufpreiszahlung für das teurere Dayan Dive Homestay, Schnorcheltrips,… Habel war für uns das Herz von Dayan.
Das Hausriff ist nicht besonders sehenswert. Es war fast nur bei Flut möglich zu baden, da die Wasserhöhe sonst nicht ausreichend war. Jedoch Schnorcheltrips zum sehr nahe gelegenen Manta Point (frühmorgens), wo ich mit 5 Mantas geschnorchelt bin oder zu dem Hausriff vom südlich auf Batanta gelegenem Batanta Adventure Homestay, oder Lea’s Garden waren phantastisch. Ich hatte sogar das Glück einem ‚Walking shark’zu begegnen. Allerdings muss sehr auf die aktuellen Strömungsverhältnisse geachtet werden.
