Art House

Clean facilities, great location and secure access, easy walking distance to public transport (Fairfield train station) and even easier walking to the local hotel for dinner (a tasty meal on both nights I stayed, and the meals were a reasonable price) and drinks. Kane was an excellent host. There was a mix up with the room booking (caused by Booking.com). Going by the room pictures on Booking.com I thought was booking the "Triple Room", a room with two beds (Q & S), only to told shortly after arrival that I was booked into a room which had only one double bed. NO-oooo!!!! My mate and I did NOT want to share a double bed! YIKES!! Kane was onto it and arranged a swap with another visitor so that I kept the room with two beds. Calamity averted! So a big "Thank you" to Kane. :D

It took a while for the how water to come through, but other than that there was nothing to complain about, easy access to toilet and shower facilities.

It was quiet and clean. Slept well. Would stay here again. Great location.

An easy walk from Fairfield Station, large room, great bed, good kitchen. Easy access and good communications from Kane. The Grandview Hotel was a 5 minute walk, with very good food. Easy access into Melbourne CBD.

Was all good

The house itself is quite pleasant. I had Leafy Lodge, which was a large room with a queen bed and a single bed (I shared with a friend who came for a weekend out of a weeklong stay) plus desk, sofa and coffee table. It was a nice area for when I had to do a little work from the room. It's close to Yarra Bend Park, not too far a walk from Fairfield Station and number of buses stopped on the main road nearby. It's very quiet and in a peaceful neighbourhood.

I had a set of keys for the front two doors and my room but the keys for the front doors never worked so I constantly used the communal keys (from the lock box) to get in. When I contacted the host about this, I never got a reply. Later I got a "reminder" to be respectful about cleaning up after myself, which I suspect was automated but felt passive-aggressive considering the bad keys were never addressed and also I'm super clean. The bathroom I used was very badly designed and despite there being a shower curtain, water would spray all over the (non-shower) floor so after a shower I'd have to use the scraper thing to swish splashes into the shower drain. Toilet paper ran out about 3 nights/mornings of the week I was there and there was none kept in the bathroom. By chance I managed to find the supply (a linen closet had been left open, I didn't go snooping) and I replaced an empty roll twice otherwise it would've been more often. There was a millipede (?) on my friend's bed but I found it after she'd left and since I didn't get a response about the keys I didn't bother the host about it and just threw it out. I thought this was a B&B but it was an unhosted boarding house situation.
