The hotel is far from everywhere, but close to the airport
Rooms are quiet and comfortable
Absolutely zero knowledge of English by the staff (even basic numbers when they ask about your room number)
Slow service and few staff in the restaurant

Our morning China Eastern flight from Diqing (Shangri-la) to Kunming was unceremoniously canceled and the airline refused to put us on the other morning flight, instead they made us take the evening flight of the previous day. So we were forced to book a hotel near the airport for the overnight layover and get the connecting flight in the afternoon to Bangkok. This hotel offered good rates and a free shuttle service. When the evening flight was delayed almost 5 hours due to strong winds, we landed in Kunming past midnight. Our tour guide in Shangri-la had set up a wechat group with the hotel, so we were able to have the hotel's shuttle pick us up on arrival. We were able to shower and catch some sleep after the tiring flight. The room was very comfortable and clean. The next morning, we had buffet breakfast and it offered a good spread. We were able to rest up for the next flight out of Kunming, thanks to this hotel!
Please note that this hotel does not respond to messages and emails at all! Even with the help of booking.com's customer service. It's like speaking to a brick wall. We got our tour guide to call them and set up a wechat group to get any response. I think the staff, while professional and courteous, have a problem with communicating in English and generally try not to engage at all, if they can help it. Wechat translates messages automatically, very useful in China. Hope the hotel can improve their communication channels.

It was clean and modern
It’s no where near the airport, they also offer a “free shuttle” but it’s impossible to arrange, I messaged through booking.com to organise and never got a response, had to get someone at the airport to call them for pick up. They also told me the shuttle doesn’t run till 7am, my flight being early I had to get a taxi the airport. Not great.
