The owner is really kind and her cats were cute.
It's also in a pretty great location, but there are really only two possible locations for a hostel on Rishiri and both are quite convenient, so I don't know how useful that information is.
It's a house turned into a hostel, but whoever did the renovation did a very sloppy job. The cheaper "rooms" are more like capsules than anything, and they're only separated by particle board, offering zero sound insulation.

In a friendly town Katsugata, near bar, restaurants
Drawing pins holding curtains, close to the bed. They could be detached from wall, falling on the bed. It could be really dangerous. In addition, the sleeping room was really dark. And staff was often away. Bar was closed and it was supposed to be open according Google Maps
