The house has a lovely vintage character, and it’s clear the host has invested well in the property. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable, the kitchen-cum-TV area was spacious, and having a TV in every bedroom was a thoughtful touch.
We especially appreciated the host’s flexibility in allowing us to drop our bags early as we were travelling for a burial. This was very thoughtful and made our day easier.
The main opportunity is in the”software’ i.e guest experience. The ID requirement /policy was only communicated after we had travelled and were seeking directions. While we understand the security requirement, it would be better communicated upfront during booking. The comment that “this is my mother’s house, we need an ID” also left us feeling somewhat untrusted.
A few basic beverages would have been appreciated, and many kitchen cabinets were closed. Items not intended for guests could simply be removed or clearly marked, leaving the rest accessible. Some of the bedroom shower spaces are also quite small, with limited room to move around.
