Ararat Hotel

Staff were kind, friendly, and down for a chat! I'm obsessed with all things old, antique and spooky. If you don't believe in ghosts, this is a cute little hotel, enjoy the architecture and the food. If you do believe in ghosts - I hope you enjoy their company as much as I did! Extra fun if you visit Aradale, J Ward, and the cemetery - beautiful headstones and statues (if you meet a little girl who loved school - specifically art, reading - she reminded me what nouns were 😂, and valued friendship the most - she told me you can always choose to be kind! - tell her Kat said hi, she will go for a walk around the place with you but you have to tell her goodbye when you leave) There was only one single port PowerPoint outlet in our room though, and the room was very cold (middle of winter) and spooky, so choosing between heater and lamp was rough, also no option to charge phone because heat and light was priority. We ended up going for a drive to a servo on the highway at 1am to buy a torch 😂 problem solved and it added to our adventure!

The location and cost of the accommodation - as well as the friendly welcome given by hotel staff.

The smell of the room and the dated furniture.

Staff were very courteous,polite and welcoming.Accomodation was as expected with communal showers and toilets that were clean.Location was right in the heart of Ararat.Whilst we parked in Barkly street overnight off street parking behind the hotel was offered.It is basic central hotel accommodation at a budget price,and that’s fine.Happy with our stay.

You get what you pay for at the Ararat Hotel. There are very few items in the rooms apart from a comfortable bed. Shared bathroom facilities are fine as there are plenty of them.

It would be a good idea to vacuum the carpet on the old stairs leading up to the first floor.
