We loved staying at Lokiya Pool Villa 1. We spent 10 days in Koh Lanta at Lokiya and could have stayed longer. The villa itself is beautiful and in flawless condition. The pool was such a treat and perfect relief for the hot weather, well appointed with comfortable sun loungers and it felt really private. The villa has great air conditioning, the beds were extremely comfortable (and great pillows!!), the showers were hot and powerful and the furnishings were comfortable. A cleaner came twice during our stay and refreshed the bedding and towels which was lovely.
The location near Long Beach is excellent, a super short walk to the mini mart and lots of cafes and restaurants. The sunsets at Long Beach are beautiful, we also really enjoyed Relax Beach, a short tuk tuk ride away.
I think the real highlight of our stay was our very attentive property manager, Palm. He's absolutely lovely - so personable and easy to communicate with, it genuinely felt like nothing was too much to ask. When we ran into a small issue he responded immediately, when I mentioned my partner was poorly he recommended medication that was available locally, and when I asked for restaurant recommendations he was very happy to point us in the direction of a lovely place we ended up going to 4 times (Lazy Days on Relax Beach!). Palm made our stay really comfortable and he was always easy to reach without being imposing in any way. We would often find him down by the bakery a few minutes down the road and it was evident he was super local and the right person for the job. Please do pass our thanks on to Palm for his attentive and 5* service.
Locally, we loved Fika for their waffles and coffee, The Backyard for brunch, fresh coconuts and a playground for our daughter. I had countless delicious smoothies from both shake stands nearby (the one outside the minimart and the one near Manee Lanta massage). JaiJais was great, lovely family and very accommodating. And Lazy Days on Relax Beach of course!
These are absolutely not deal breakers - but some minor things would be:
Would have been nice to have a few amenities like sugar, salt, cooking oil and maybe a bit more detergent for the washing machine - would have been happy to buy more but all being in Thai we struggled to know what was what and would have added some convenience. Maybe a multipack of cereal and some milk just to make the first morning a little easier before we found our bearings? Could be something that's offered in advance of our arrival?
There isn't a great deal of storage for clothes as there is no dresser and only a small open wardrobe space so we ended up 'unpacking' but living off piles on the shelves in the bedroom. A basic set of drawers would have been nice, as well as a dressing table with a mirror. I think being so new, the villa was a little empty and had very little additional furniture which could have made things more comfortable and convenient. The villa itself, the space and the pool felt luxe but I think a few additional furnishings/decor could have added to the experience and made it feel even more special.
Being near the beach it would have been nice to have a few beach toys available for our daughter to use - we bought new and left what we bought there because we couldn't take them with us and I hate to add to plastic waste if they were thrown away. Would have been a really nice touch for some beach toys to be included that can then be used by other guests in future.
These points are really just 'nice to haves', they didn't negatively impact our experience in any way hence the very positive review and rating :)
