Welcome to Getaway Gulf — it's always a great day to be at the beach!
Getaway Gulf is a big, bright, two-story beach house in town in Crystal Beach, Texas, on Mary Ann Street — a short walk to the beach access at the end of the street and close to everything Crystal Beach offers. Soaring ceilings, large windows and an open layout make the whole house feel welcoming the moment you walk in. It sleeps 24.
The main level opens in the middle: a spacious kitchen and dining area to the right, and a large living room to the left with two couches, a love seat, two padded chairs and a TV. The kitchen is built for a crowd — quartz counters throughout, two full-size refrigerators, two pantries, an island that seats 14, and two dining tables seating 12 more. That is 26 places to eat at the same time.
Down the hall are a closet, a stackable washer and dryer, a full bathroom, the master king suite with its own ensuite and double vanity, two more king bedrooms sharing a Hollywood-style bath (each with its own sink, so only the toilet and shower are shared), and a bunk room with two full-over-full bunk beds. A hall bath has a tub and shower combination.
Upstairs is an open commons area with four queen beds, a TV and a table with four chairs, plus a fifth bedroom with a king and a bathroom that also opens to the commons. Four full bathrooms in all, and seven smart TVs — one in every bedroom, the living room and the commons.
Outside, the covered upstairs deck has a table with four stools, four high-back chairs with drink holders and two loungers, with bay and Intracoastal Waterway views to one side and a slice of Gulf to the other. The deck is gated to keep the dog from reaching the stairs. Under the house is a shaded gathering area with a picnic table, three tables with four chairs each, and a charcoal grill on the concrete pad, plus an enclosed shower with hot and cold water for rinsing off the sand.
Parking is in front of the house, under the house, and on the lot we own next door behind Ibis Isle — another of our homes, right next door, which makes the two an easy pairing for a large family gathering. No parking is allowed on the street at any of our houses.
Gatherings are welcome with prior approval, up to 45 people. Getaway Gulf was built for family reunions, multi-generational trips and big groups of lifelong friends.

The guest who books must be 25 or older, stay for the entire reservation, and is responsible for their group and any visitors for the full stay.
Maximum occupancy: Please do not exceed the maximum number of guests set for your reservation. Getaway Gulf sleeps up to 24, but some booking sites cap the guest count lower — the number on your booking is your limit. That number covers everyone staying overnight; guests for an approved event are counted separately, under Events below.
Smoking: No smoking or vaping inside — $300 fee. Smoking is fine outside or under the house; please stay well away from doors and windows so nothing drifts in, and put butts in the outdoor trash.
Pets: Adult pets are welcome with prior approval - no pets under a year, and pets must be house-broken. Dogs of any size are welcome. Maximum 4 adult pets. The pet fee is $100 per stay for up to 2 pets, plus $50 per pet for up to 2 more. The covered deck is gated to keep the dog from accessing the stairs. Pets stay off all furniture and beds - please bring your own sheets or blankets to cover anything your pet will be on. Clean up after your pets inside and out, and keep them supervised. Undisclosed pets will result in additional fees, and a $150 fee applies if the pet rules are not followed. Trained service animals as defined by the ADA are exempt from the pet fee; emotional support, comfort, and therapy animals are treated the same as pets.
Parking: Park in the drive, under the house, and the adjacent lot — no street parking. Please keep our shop's access drive (far right) clear at all times. Trailers and boats are welcome with prior approval.
RVs and EV charging: Please don't hook an RV to the house; our systems are not set up for it. Please do not charge an electric vehicle at the house; our systems are not set up for it. If one is charged here, additional charges will apply. The downstairs outlets are GFCI-protected and a car charger will trip them, which takes out the downstairs lights and outlets along with it. Ask and we will tell you what works.
Quiet hours: 10 PM–8 AM. This is a quiet, family community — no heavy bass, and excessive noise that disturbs neighbors may result in removal.
Doors & windows: Please keep exterior doors and windows closed (not propped open) — coastal humidity is hard on the home and open doors drive up cooling costs.
Care of the home: Please don't move or rearrange the furniture, and treat our home as you would your mother's. Nothing from inside goes outside.
Charcoal grill: Use the charcoal grill on the concrete pad under the house only — never on the deck or wooden areas, and never taken to the beach. Bring your own charcoal and lighter. No fires on decks or other wooden areas.
Drains: No oil, grease, or thick/slimy substances down any drain — they damage the coastal sewer pumps. Grease and oil go in the trash.
Golf carts: Golf carts cannot travel on or parallel to Highway 87 — keep them to neighborhood streets and approved access roads.
Events: Gatherings are welcome with prior approval, up to 45 people — family reunions, weddings, birthdays, and get-togethers. Once we have approved your event, the headcount can go well past the number sleeping here; all we ask is that you respect the neighbors and respect the house. We do not host prom, graduation, or bachelor/bachelorette-type parties. Veterans and first responders are always welcome.
Dehumidifier: Please leave the dehumidifier running at all times, including at checkout. It keeps the coastal humidity in check and protects the house - please don't switch it off, unplug it, or move it.
Responsibility: The guest who books is responsible for their group and any visitors, and for all damage or issues during the stay. Disruptive, unsafe, or illegal behavior may result in immediate removal with no refund.
At checkout: Leave the ceiling fans, AC, heat, and dehumidifier running as we've set them. Start a load of towels, run the dishwasher if there are dirty dishes, empty the refrigerator, take the trash out to the cans, lock up, and return the key as directed.
