Perfect stay

House is clean. Beds cosy and clean. Tv works fine. house is massive. Gardens nice. Very nice house!! Defo would book again. Defo worth the money!!! House is very spacious!

Wifi password on bottom of the box not what they send on booking.com. Key safe password also was not the one sent. Had to contact the host. Cannot play music after 11 because neighbours ring host lol Other than this perfect stay!!

Forced downgrade and poor conditions

Nothing — the accommodation did not meet basic expectations.

The original 7-bedroom property was cancelled just 15 minutes before check-in, forcing us to accept a downgraded alternative with no real choice. The replacement property was dirty, poorly maintained, had faulty fixtures, an unusable dining area due to broken lighting, and a garden full of rubbish. The kitchen was not as advertised, with dirty unusable cookware and broken fittings. We later saw people staying in the original property who were clearly not workmen, which made the explanation given feel misleading and raised concerns about possible double booking. The experience ruined our Christmas stay. EDIT: I am shocked by the host’s public response, which contains several inaccuracies. At no point were we offered payment of the difference for the downgrade, nor was any refund confirmed or processed. The phone call shortly before check-in came across as abrupt, pressured and unhelpful. The host now claims there are two “identical” properties (A and B). However, we were provided with a specific address for the property we booked and reasonably expected the listing photos to represent that exact property. We were later told that photos were reused “to save costs.” Using photos of a different property without clearly disclosing this is highly misleading, and combined with the last-minute cancellation and conflicting explanations, this situation bordered on deceptive practice. I stand by my review. The lack of transparency, misleading listing information, and forced downgrade resulted in a Christmas stay that fell well below acceptable standards.
