The location was outstanding...right in the heart of everything and we loved arriving for First Fridays. We could walk to so many lovely restaurants, shops and galleries
My only complaint is that I requested more coffee pods for our room and never received any. Minor issue!

Location, stylish, clever use of space
Two Front doors and not immediately obvious which one to use

The hotel location itself could not be situated better. It's on a quiet, charming cobblestoned street upon which you'll find, among other things, a secondhand bookstore, a quaint secondhand knick-knack shop, coffeeshops nearby, and a historic alley with houses that have existed since 1753. It's a 5-minute walk to the closest train station, and a stone's throw from the river.
I stayed in the Adams suite, which has a kitchenette, a very comfortable king sized bed with luxurious sheets, and a spacious ensuite bathroom. When looking for a place to stay I tend to prioritize location, comfort, and cleanliness, of which there are many in Philly. What made me want to stay at the Gas Lamp Hotel is the overall "vibe," however. I absolutely adore the look of the room.
I did have an issue with the A/C unit in the room, unfortunately. I arrived on a warmer than normal spring day, and found the temperature inside the room to be higher than the temperature outside. I wanted to turn the A/C on for just a bit in order to regulate the temperature. There's a little cubby on the wall that houses the remote control for the A/C unit. I made sure it was on, and selected my ideal temperature--nothing was happening. I tried pointing it towards the A/C vent--still nothing. Could it have been a battery issue? Without any staff on site, I couldn't really approach anyone immediately to deal with the issue. Since I was only staying overnight, I simply decided to crack the window open to let some air in. It was a good enough stopgap measure, but things could get problematic during the summer when the temperature outside is 90+ degrees Fahrenheit.
