Didnt go to plan initially

We had an issue with a double booking. I have sent a complaint to Host & Stay and they are investigating but havent replied in the agreed timeframe. Owner has made us feel like a second class citizen as the other couple who had booked directly via the owner's website kept referring to them as the 'official' booking as he was unaware of our booking but in our eyes we had an official booking as well. Clearly the platforms aren't speaking to each other and we have received nothing in terms of compensation for a horrible start to our holiday. The owner put the other couple up in a hotel as they had booked later than us so we thankfully remained in cottage.
