uncomfortable and no support from owner

it is in the middle of Leyburn, an attractive market town in thge Dales

With no advance warning even tho' the owner knew of the forthcoming high temperatures, the apt. is situated directly over the high street and traffic noise was horrendous. Seriously heavy traffic until after midnight and starting again at 6a.m. Impossible to sleep with open windows at night because of noise and anyway only opened 2 ins and at least one was impossible to move, so no chance of cooling the place down, during evening. The blinds also faulty in places & heat & noise combined to create a nightmare situation - so much so that after 2 sleepless nights, we left. We had asked for a coffee pot, as there was no facility to make anything but instant or pod coffee. We do not use either of these. no coffee pot was produced, no butter dish, no teapot,no salad bowl, - several other items that should have been in place in a "luxury" apartment were not there. The owner finally responded, but not adequately & when I suggested some compensation, he refused. only on day 3, as we were leaving, was a fan provided, but nothing else - our requests were ignored. The beds- ordinary doubles - not big enough -certainly not luxury. Also too soft. No hanging space in one of the bedrooms and in the other a makeshift contraption far too short to hold long trousers or an ordinary dress without crumpling the lower part of the garment. it was also necessary for it to be placed right in front of the mirror thus making it difficult- or almost impossible - to use the mirror for hair styling, make-up or to check appearance. Bedrooms are small & furniture is thus limited, not even a chair in the bedrooms - want to put clothes aside for the following day? on the floor!! store your bag or rucsac?- on the floor! At the entrance, it is quite dirty & unfinished & a sunken mat is a serious tripping hazard. it is not an attractive welcome for this self-styled luxury apartment. the rooms are actually truly beautiful in a lovely old bldg.

Beautifully renovated apartment in great location. Lots of fascilities in the small town and lovely dog walks. Clear communication from the owner, would certainly return.
