Overall, we had a good stay and felt the accommodation was good value for the price. It’s nothing glamorous, but the location really is excellent and it worked very well as a base for our group.
The location was probably the biggest highlight. There is amazing access directly down to the beach from the hotel, and it’s very easy to walk into Taghazout for shops, cafés, restaurants and other beaches. There’s also a coffee shop right next door, which was really convenient in the mornings. We booked a few excursions during our stay and the accommodation was also very well positioned for pick-ups, so getting around without our own transport was easy.
The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They responded quickly to our Booking.com messages, particularly in the afternoons and evenings, and were happy to bring us things we needed such as extra toilet roll, hangers, bedding and towels. They also arranged a cheap and efficient transfer for us from the airport to Taghazout, which we really appreciated. Having water bottles waiting for us when we arrived was also a nice touch.
There are a few relatively simple things that would make the stay much easier for guests. The biggest was that there were no bins anywhere in the accommodation, which became quite inconvenient with a group and left a lot of rubbish when checking out. There was also quite a strong sewage smell in the bathroom at times, and some of our group found their towels didn’t smell very fresh.
A clothes horse/drying rack would also be really useful, especially given that this is beach accommodation. We tried to ask for one but there was a bit of a language barrier, and we weren’t able to get one during our stay despite it being shown on Booking.com images.
Check-in could have been smoother. We arrived at around 2:30pm, having told the property our arrival time in advance but the room hadn’t been cleaned and we had to wait while this was started. The advertised opening/reception times also don’t seem completely accurate - for example, advertised as opening at 8am but we didn’t see the reception open until around 10am most days. This wasn’t an issue, just something to flag as checking out at 9am was unclear.
One thing to be aware of for larger groups is the sleeping arrangement - I think the property is advertised as sleeping 10, but during our stay there was one room with a double bed, one with four single beds and a single bed in the kitchen. I assume the remaining guests would sleep on the couches shown in the photos.
For other travellers, the kitchen is fairly basic, with a hob, tagine, fridge/freezer, cutlery and limited cooking equipment. This wasn’t a problem for us as we ate out during our stay, but it may be worth knowing if you plan to cook regularly.
Also, there is only one bathroom, which is worth factoring in if you’re travelling as a larger group. There were 7 of us so we had to factor in extra time for this when preparing to go out - again, not a problem.
