The location is absolute paradise. Right on the sand of gorgeous Playa Hermosa, surrounded by amazing wildlife (we saw macaws, a crocodile, huge lizards and iguanas everywhere). The apartment we were given - ground floor, number 1 I think (clearly used to be a condo) was massive and despite being pretty old, was actually very comfortable, well equipped and a nice place to hang out. Breakfast was also delicious too. The best thing by far though, was the smaller pool overlooking the beach at the northern end of the property. Fabulous spot to while away a lazy day.
Clearly this hotel once was a luxury spot - it still looks it in photos - but those days are long gone. In short: the whole place is falling apart. Crumbling concrete everywhere revealing exposed rusted metal rebar (the worst place for this is around the edge of the larger pool - super dangerous). Most fixtures and fittings are well past their best and there is clearly a termite & damp issue in a few places. That said - if you're prepared to focus on the good things (primarily the location and ambiance), and kinda ignore the dodgy bits as mentioned here, I would still recommend it. We genuinely loved our time here (despite the price which is really too high, given the state of the facilities). For the record, it's no longer called Host Company Jaco - the whole complex is now just "Marea Brava Hotel & Villas" - and there were signs that some renovations were happening under the new owner/management. I REALLY hope they get this place looking ship shape once more as it has the potential to be really fabulous.

La cama es sumamente comoda, el tamaño de la habitacion es genial... La vista de la habitacion es hacia la playa...
No llegaba suficiente agua al lavatorio o la ducha...
