What an exceptionally beautiful property which is helped by the renovation work done that kept within the character of the home. It was lovely to walk in the front door sunroom with the natural warmth of the sun . What drew our attention was the well placed kiwiana L&P picture on the wall, reminding us ‘yes’ we are in Aotearoa. You could see the minimalist style and decor resonated well with this home and the quality of the wooden pieces of furniture showed elegance. This ‘Whare’ had ‘Wairua’ which was warm and inviting. The bed was lovely and comfortable and when the temperature dropped we had our hot water bottles. I was particularly drawn to the picture in the bedroom of the beautiful Whanau and to us it anchored the whole Whare. The bathroom was 5 star and a pleasure to go into with the warmth of the heated floor. The kitchen was well appointed and added bonus of laundry and fridge freezer hidden was nice.
The couch in the lounge was our biggest concern. As it suited the minimalist decor its functionality was poor. My husband who is 6 foot 3 in height found it too low to sit on and this included the green chair in the corner. He spent most of his time lying on the bed or at the kitchen table so was not able to watch tv with me. I found it more comfortable to lie down on it although the pillows kept falling on the floor. We would have appreciated bigger coffee/teacups and more than two available as it was pointless putting the only two cups in the dishwasher when you would need to use them again. Lastly the positioning of the microwave as low as it was not ideal for both my husband and I. Having a blind on the back door and netting curtains in main bedroom would of given better privacy for us as we felt over looked.
