Quiet location, very friendly and helpful family who run the homestay and were able to offer us tea, lunch and water when we asked for it. Only 20 min walk to the temple and about 5-7 min walk to nearby restaurants or supermarkets. Wifi worked well enough for me to work and have work calls.
Decent accommodation is very limited in Sringeri and we found this to be the best option we could find.
Communication with the owner was very poor at the beginning - we had no reply from booking.com messages for days and I had to end up calling 4-5 different numbers to finally get a response from the owner to say the booking was confirmed. Once we arrived, we instead communicated with the family who run the homestay and they were a lot more relaible and quick to support with any needs.
Initially we were given room 3 which was not the room we saw on the booking.com photos. The AC was very dodgy and would stop working and drip. The family offered to move us to another room which looked like the actual room we booked and we eventually did and this room was a lot nicer although a little bit smaller.
The power would cut out a lot, sometimes for hours, which meant the AC wouldn't work or even the Wifi would stop working which was an issue.
Soap, towels and toilet paper was not ready in the room on our arrival and was only provided after we asked for it, despite it being listed as included on the booking.com listing.
Cleanliness in the rooms could have been a lot better (floors felt dusty) but the main areas of the house felt clean.
