Set beneath the landmark Victoria Tower on Castle Hill, the cottage enjoys a glorious south-facing position near the historic village of Almondbury, one of Yorkshire’s oldest recorded settlements. Draped in wisteria, Woodlea’s stone exterior hints at the warmth and elegance that lie within.
Inside, you’ll find original mullioned windows, exposed beams, and two welcoming fireplaces—one with a crackling wood-burning stove and the other an open hearth. Thoughtfully updated throughout, the cottage blends its rich heritage with contemporary comfort to create a space that feels both luxurious and homely.
There are two inviting sitting rooms—one with a piano and open fire, the other perfect for relaxing by the stove after a day exploring. The well-equipped kitchen and adjoining dining area provide the ideal spot for anything from a hearty breakfast to a candlelit dinner.

Guests can access all of the property although a few wardrobes are locked, however there are lots of additional space to hang and store clothing.
Woodlea cottage is situated in a wooded green belt valley with few properties, there are neighbours either side one being an old weavers cottage like Woodlea, the other a more modern large detached house. The village of Almondbury which is referred to in the `Doomsday Book, but dates back much further over 4,000 years! The cottage is situated beneath Castle Hill and it`s famous `Victoria Tower` to commemorate Queen Victoria residing on the throne over 60 years. The village has several shops, a couple of churches and pubs a couple of miles away.
There is parking for three vehicles which is the mode of transport required, the location is rural therefore there is no immediate public transport although taxis are easily accessible.
