I came to Puerto Princessa with a view to only stay a night before heading further north the following day. Unfortunately I was hospitalised with a serious illness and ended up spending 5 days there, needing the time to recover. It was an incredibly difficult time as I am currently solo travelling and falling ill abroad on your own is a very isolating and scary situation. I didn’t have the support of my friends and family around me. May (the owner of Astra) was brilliant from the moment I arrived. And upon learning of my illness she went above and beyond to ensure that I was looked after by her and her team. She offered to get supplies for me, order my transport to hospital; amongst other things. Her hospitality and kindness were next to none. The hotel itself is clean, tidy and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Staff are always on hand should you need anything and for what you get the price is fantastic. I cannot recommend this place enough. More importantly, I cannot recommend May and her team enough. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being there when I needed it most. Lejísimos del centro. Al salir hay que buscar tuc tuc en la calle de arriba. La calle del hotel no tiene luces, no volver de noche.
