We had a lovely stay at Aery's Village. The rooms and common spaces are beautifully arranged and well maintained, and we enjoyed the quiet surroundings. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive to our requests. Dinner was great and fairly priced (especially compared to Dakar).
The TV in our room did not connect to the internet which was a pity as we were unable to watch the news or connect to Netflix etc. Guests might also want to keep in mind that there are very few options to hang clothes in the room. As we only stayed the weekend this was no problem for us, but it could be something others might rely on if they are traveling with business clothes for example. Last little point of improvement could be that the staff could drop by from time to time to check-in with us while we were staying by the pool instead of us having to message them if we wanted another drink. They always replied right away but this would make the experience even better. :)

L’omniprésence du personnel a l’intérieur des espaces réservés, on ne se sent pas à l’aise. Personnel non formé aux codes hôteliers, entrent dans les espaces sans gêne, et ce dès très tôt le matin.
Pas vraiment havre de paix/retraite au vu des allers et venues incessants du personnel. Je le recommande plutôt pour un séjour en famille.

Aerys Village is a beautiful property. It is the nicest accommodations I have stayed at in Senegal. The place is very peaceful and comfortable.
The staff is clearly not trained. They do not have any frame of reference and were very difficult to communicate with. They were lovely people, you could tell that they were trying their best. But, it is clear that they have not been empowered to be effective in their jobs. I imagine is is very frustrating for them because with the right training you will have a super star staff. Not being able to speak the same language should not be a barrier. There are cues that a good team can understand. For instance, in asking for a cup of hot water and a cup of coffee during breakfast, hot water was brought, coffee was brought but only one cup was brought. It was as thought the server could not understand that 2 cups would be needed, one for coffee, one for the hot water. There was no explanation of what the breakfast offerings were. The pastries were day old and stale at 9am. It didn't feel like we had options. The food options should be things that the team already knows how to do well. I ordered a pain thon sandwich expecting to receive traditional pain thon and ended up with what the cook imagined or assumed was an American tuna club sandwich. Do what is local and tasty. Jollof rice, yassa, ndambe, pain thon, dibi with frites would have been nice. The most frustrating thing was the notification upon arrival that no credit cards were accepted. After flying all day, long delayed flights, meetings upon arrival, we were so excited to get to the hotel. Upon checking in we were told that we had to pay cash. Although the team was kind in giving us until the end of our stay to find the cash, this was a MAJOR inconvenience. We were only in Senegal on business for 3 tightly scheduled days and it became a tremendous headache and added stress to our visit to have to figure out where to go get all of the CFA. I even reflected back to the booking where it said all major credit cards were accepted. This hotel has a lot of potential but the leaders at the top need to do better
