Not the worse stay.

It was close proximity to the wedding venue we were in Melbourne for. Parking available. We were only needing to stay one night so it had what we needed. Relatively clean with coffee and milk available. Provided early check in upon request.

Couldn't open the keys lockbox with the code provided, had to call them to get another code. The bedroom was very stuffy and got hot quickly. There was a fan and a portable plug in A/C unit that did pretty much nothing. The pillow was flat and found a brown stain on the duvet.. probably had one the worse night sleep.

Awful. Not enough beds and only got 50% refund

Nothing. It was awful.

The Quirky apartment was disgusting and couldn’t cater for our family of three. The apartment had not been cleaned, there were not enough beds, and the bedding in the cupboard was dirty. The ‘apartment’ was a janitor/superintendent resident in the underbelly of the apartment block. The ‘air conditioner’ was a plug in from Kmart that made the space smell like gas. There was no ventilation, so the apartment was stiflingly hot with an awful, dead odour, masked by vanilla airwick. We did not receive details about how to enter the property, so when I messaged property owner Stephanie, she immediately sent through details/codes/photos and the called my mobile to see that everything was ok. No everything was not ok and I suspect Stephanie knew that. The place was grubby and with not enough beds. Pretty sure the fold out sofa bed was pulled from the tip. Stephanie (property manager) said she was happy to refund us the money we’d paid, then later changed her mind and approved a 50% refund through booking.com. We did not stay at the property. We found a motel not far away and paid another $165 to stay elsewhere. I paid a non-refundable amount of a higher amount to stay at ‘quirky apartment’ thinking that it would be a bit nicer than your bog standard family room in a motel. It wasn’t. At.All. This is the first and only truly negative experience I’ve had with properties via Booking.com, since… idk ? 2016? If I can’t trust that the accommodation I’m booking is reputable, I will go back to booking directly with the property. Booking.com should not be an alternative to other accommodation platforms filled with grubby personal spaces that people rent out on weekends to make a quick buck. ‘Quirky Apartment’ (131 Oak St Parkville, VIC) should be avoided by anyone hoping for a clean, comfortable place to sleep.
