This property was originally advertised as ‘one bedroom house’ and so expecting I would have the whole house to myself - I booked the accommodation the day before arrival..
Received a email the day after from the host informing me that it was actually a hostel style share house and that I will be sharing the space with 3 others (in a 5 bedroom home). I did inform Trihn the manager/cleaner ? Maybe owner that I did not wish for this style of accommodation so aimed to initially cancel the booking. Yet was informed by bookings.com that if I went ahead with this- I would still incur at 90% cancellation fee..
So I thought- why not- go ahead with the booking. Upon arrival there was a mix up with the key safe at the entrance and previous tenants were given the same text as myself so took the keys to ‘my room’ or their arrival before myself and were not there when I arrived.
I called Trihn and she did give me access to the front door from the other key safe and was told my room was the front room closest to the front door. Yet upon opening the door- the carpet by the front door was soaked with water. It was clear there had been a flood and ‘my room’ stank of mould and wet.. and the walls showed clear signs of water leakage..
Trihn was still on the phone when commented on this and was very lovely and apologetic stating that she wanted to upgrade me a different room.. yet the other two bedrooms were locked and she didn’t know where the key was…
By this stage as we had a few phone calls and time for me to wait for her to get back to me.. I had contacted other hotels nearby and managed to get a clean queen bed ensuite room in highette for a similar price thankfully last minute. I paid $220 for this room and $245 for a proper hotel.
I did inform Trihn that I was not happy with the room or the m suggestion of an alternative room and she suggested I contact bookings.com to request a refund.
