The Hanok is SO lovely! Beautifully rustic and traditional, yet clean, polished, and thoughtfully updated. The garden is gorgeous, and I only wish we’d had more time to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere!
But what truly made our stay special was the host. He is genuinely one of the best hosts I have ever met! After a long day of sightseeing, my family and I found ourselves stranded because we couldn’t get a taxi. Even after calling the local service, we were told to try again later because demand was so high. The host came to our rescue and picked us up himself! He had also arranged our arrival pickup and kindly helped with our luggage and transportation to the train station on checkout day.
His generosity went far beyond what we could have expected. I brought my parents to Gyeongju to make special memories together, and this beautiful Hanok and its wonderful host became part of those memories. We are incredibly grateful!
There isn’t much I didn’t like, but there are a few things worth knowing before booking:
* Sleeping arrangements: One suite accommodates four people with a king-sized bed and two futons. This may be perfect for a couple or a family with children, but four adults wanting more personal space might prefer booking both suites. Also, the traditional layout means the bathroom offers less sound privacy than some may be accustomed to.
* Transportation: The location is particularly convenient if you’re driving, and there is designated parking. We visited during a long holiday weekend with a local festival, and our host said it was as busy as cherry blossom season! Getting around without a car was challenging.
* Read the host’s guide! Seriously! It includes restaurant recommendations, sightseeing tips, and local taxi information. Kakao T may not work reliably in Gyeongju, so the host provides alternative taxi contact details. Plan ahead, especially during busy periods!
These are simply things I wish I’d known before our visit. They wouldn’t stop me from recommending this lovely Hanok. The host’s kindness and hospitality are truly exceptional!
