Kousa no Mori was an unexpected gem. Location is beautiful, in the middle of the mountain, with breathtaking views from the room. We had a spacious traditional Japanese room with tatami floors, shoji screens, that created a very calm environment. Also, hotel has a real onsen! Ah and food!! It was such great breakfasts and dinners, real traditional Japanese home cooked food.
Wifi is not the best, but you don’t need it when you are in such a beautiful place haha

The room and view were wonderful! Onsen felt nice, all kinds amenities were provided in our bathroom.
Note that the Onsen is separate for men and women. Breakfast was tasty and it was great to be able to choose from different options when reserving the day before. Staff was attentive and friendly.
Bus stop is only five minutes away (although the way to the hotel is quite steep) and buses run quite frequently. Careful, some buses are not covered by the Hakone free pass.
It is a little secluded and there are not a lot of restaurants close, but you can have dinner in the hotel at a reasonable price for Hakone (which is a little more expensive in general).
I wanted to use the infrared sauna but didn't understand which buttons to press to set it up. Some kind of poster with instructions would be helpful. Other than that no complaints, can only recommend staying here!
