On clear days at Finca Durillo you will get the multimillion-dollar view. It is absolutely gorgeous. We were in awe of it. The house has a rustic flair, like a Spanish farmhouse. It was comfortable. We made several meals in the kitchen, which is fully stocked. Even though we were there in the winter, during stormy weather, the pool was kept clean by the host. On good days, from the pool deck, we could see what we thought was Morocco way yonder, at a distance. It was so beautiful.
The weather was not our friend during our stay At Finca Durillo. It was super windy and foggy for most of the first week we were there. We didn't take the offer to pay extra for central heating. Instead, we paid for firewood. It was delivered to us and we were grateful. We took some awesome pictures of the fireplace lit up with fire. It felt very cozy.
The dogs had a great time running around the pool deck. There are some steep hills in the neighborhood but our walks with the dogs were easy and fun.
There is nothing wrong with it, however, we were surprised to see so many northern Europeans in Competa. There were less Spaniards and more people of Northerns descent. The TV was set to German channels. That was strange at first.
The road to Competa is winding with numerous curves and bends but the road from Competa to Finca Durillo is dangerous. It is characterized by twists and curves next to a steep cliff. One part of the road is very narrow. There is a blind bend where you can't know when another car is coming from the other side, next to a steep cliff without guard rails, it felt unsafe. There should be traffic lights to guide drivers and prevent a bad car accident.
The other thing I didn't like, that may not bother anyone else reading this, who may come from one of those northern European countries is: that my wife is from PR, and I when I met the host for the first time, my wife was not present. When the host met my wife she mumbled the word 'interesting.' That was a bit weird for someone in the tourist industry.
The other thing was the bed pillows were small and flat and uncomfortable. We were there for 18 days and were not given extra clean sheets to change the bedding.
