Very clean, nice little apartment in a decent location. Perfect size for 1 or 2. Well stocked with everything you could need, cutlery, cooking equipment and facilities, shampoo and shower gel, Wi-Fi. It was modern and comfortable in a newly built apartment complex.
First of all, double check the location on booking.com. The one emailed to us took us to the correct place, but it is incorrect on the property listing. It does not match the listed location and I wonder if this is to entice more customers, only to find out it is actually a 15 min walk out of the city. Still not a bad location, but not where we were hoping to stay. It is also incredibly difficult to find.
Absolutely zero instructions were given before arrival. The lady that owns the apartment doesn't speak any English which made finding the apartment even more difficult. She was attempting to help via text, but it was all a very long winded process. It's not a problem that there is a language barrier, but I don't know why she didn't just come out of the residential complex to meet us and show us the way. Instead, after 40 minutes of back and forth text via Google translate, endless directions, a series of access codes for gates and doors, we found our apartment block. She still didn't believe we were there and took a further 15 minutes to get to the apartment.
Remember to bring cash in local currency to pay on arrival. We forgot, and so our lengthy check in continued. Over an hour after we arrived at the original location, we had completed the check in process. It was hardly worth it for one night in Almaty. If you're staying for longer, it's not bad
