I have to say this is a mixed review. First, the good: property manager was very prompt with responding & friendly/welcoming. I own some rental properties & I wish I had someone as responsive as she is to manage my homes! The renovated church is really cool & since we were there to celebrate the marriage of our son at a nearby vineyard, staying in a church seemed fitting. The house was well stocked- even a bowl of candy & snacks. The bathrooms had bath salts & Native brand soaps/shampoos & it was probably one of the nicest sets of amenities we have seen at an airbnb type place. It was easy walking to restaurants and wine bars. We rented the upstairs for just over a week and the downstairs for 5 nights. The not so good: It rained several times over our visit and the upstairs unit has 2 areas that leak BADLY- like constant drip drip drip filling a mixing bowl several inches each night it rained (one at the head of the dining room table and one by kitchen sink) and 2 areas that leak a little- enough to make a puddle or feel drops on you every now and then (one by back double door and one over the couch). The leaky roof looks to be an ongoing issue as the floor has clear water damage and soft spots and the ceiling looks like it does too. It’s a real shame as some of the wood floor looks original. The roof leaks are bad enough that Evolve should insist the owner fix it immediately. Safety- slipping is an issue with all the dripping water during rainy days and nights. Normally with issues like these I would have found another place to stay but with our large group and a wedding to focus on I chose to stay. The internet is quite sluggish at times- so much so that the August door lock at the entry worked only intermittently (it needs wifi to unlock). One other note- parking can be difficult. It’s first come/first served street parking. We found that if we arrived home late at night it was a bit of a pain to find spots on the weekend but not too difficult during the week. We were there for a busy weekend so maybe parking is more readily available during quieter weekends.
Last, given how old the church is, it would have been nice to be able to read about its history and see photos (if they exist) of what it used to look like and where the choir sung, pastor preached and congregation gathered. I would happily book again if roof and internet were fixed!
