The hotel is near the Bund (though at the far end, about 2km from Nanjing Rd) so the location is good. It is excellent value. The room is comfortable and of reasonable size.
The hotel is a little bizarre. It has a massive marble foyer that is completely empty, no furniture or decorations or anything, except for the check-in desk and a large pile of boxes and cartons in one corner. The breakfast room consists of a number of huge round tables crammed tightly together, each with 16 chairs crammed around them and no settings or condiments or anything on them. Niether of these issues presents a problem, it just makes the place feel a bit wierd, like the management has not seen a typical hotel.
The bathroom in our room was tiny and a bit difficult to use, and there was unused space around its walls, so it could have been larger without compromising the rest of the room. I assume this may have been due to the building structure at that point restricting the layout and other rooms may use their space much better, but it may also have been another aspect of the hotel's wierdness.
