West Point Motel

Short walk to "downtown" for restaurants, the West Point visitor center, and stores (antique, grocery). Nice size mini frig for the fruit we bought. Looked to have had a recent update - paint, new carpet, crown molding.

Air conditioner - I think it was updated but knobs were not intuitive. Took 2 days to figure out which way to turn things to get it cooling down. Also, curtains were far enough away from window that that cooling air went up between the window and the curtains.

Location was great. Able to walk all the way up through town and market & pharmacy were just a couple hundred yards up the road. Liked that they had a refrigerator in the room. Overall, very comfortable.

The desk is not continuously manned. They could update the rooms. New carpeting or maybe LVP flooring would be first on the list. Air conditioning worked well but was a bit loud when trying to listen to the television. One microwave and ice maker for the entire property was in a designated structure.

Apparently, the Village of Highland Falls has an issue with the water system or rusty water lines that need to be replaced. Our shower, sink and toilet water were literally BROWN! So BROWN that it turned white face towels a rust brown color. When I brought this to the attention of front desk I was told to let the hot water run for about 10 minutes and the water should clear up. The water did clear up after running the water, but the same issue happened the second day of our stay. This was a very disturbing situation. If the water is running brown it can't be safe. I was very concerned. The front desk person says there is nothing they can do other than complain to the Village.
