The property was really well set up for families with lots of toys and a good location close to the lakes shore and one of the boating piers just outside Ambleside.
It was a bit of a walk into Ambleside town centre for younger children and there was no outside space with only one car parking space.

Excellent location, clean and tidy. Spacious, well kitted out house, also great for children with additional toys in the lounge.
Very mucky windows, some difficult to open/shut. Skirting boards missing in parts with crawlies/slime appearing on items left near them on ground floor. Not a complaint - aware this is one of those things but could do with looking into.

The location was good. We plan to go back to Ambleside, though not to this accomodation. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped. Most showers were fine.
We plan to go back to Ambleside, but not to Waterhead Cottage. There was a lot of road noise. Only one parking space, which for a property of that size is ridiculous. Exacerbated by no useful information about alternative parking. We ended up getting a £30 fine for parking in the youth hostel carpark on the first night. Kitchen was small for the size of the property, though well equipped. No downstairs toilet. Those in the Bedroom at front at road level were woken up regularly by road noise and vehicle lights. Blackout curtains perhaps? Showers were good, apart from the one in the top landing bathroom. Top ensuite bedroom a bit cramped. No hanging space in second top landing bedroom
