ONE OF THE WORST AIRBNB EXPERIENCES I HAVE EVER HAD — PLEASE BE CAREFUL BEFORE BOOKING
ONE OF THE WORST AIRBNB EXPERIENCES I HAVE EVER HAD — PLEASE BE CAREFUL BEFORE BOOKING!
I honestly wish I had never booked this accommodation. What I experienced was completely unacceptable, and I am sharing this review to warn future guests so that nobody else has to go through what I went through.
Immediately after my booking was confirmed, the host refused to answer my calls and insisted that I communicate via text. He then requested photographs of my passport or ID, followed by a selfie of me holding my identity document. I complied, expecting a professional and trustworthy hosting experience.
Unfortunately, things only got worse from there.
When I arrived, the room was dirty, the bed was not made, and there were no towels. I had to spend my own money buying a towel just to be able to bathe. To make matters worse, there was no running water to flush the toilet or shower. When I contacted the host for assistance, he told me to take a long walk to fetch water myself. I had booked accommodation, not a situation where I would be expected to find my own water just to meet basic hygiene needs.
Despite these unacceptable conditions, I decided to go out and asked the host to send me an access code so I could return later without disturbing him. He agreed.
I returned by Uber at approximately 10:45 p.m., only to find myself stranded outside the property because security would not allow me in without the access code. I repeatedly called and messaged the host, but he ignored me. I was in an unfamiliar area, with nowhere to go and no one I knew nearby.
I was left stranded outside for more than FOUR HOURS, until approximately 2:00 a.m., when the host finally responded and sent me the code.
Let that sink in. A paying guest was left outside in the middle of the night for hours simply because the host failed to provide access and could not be reached.
Even after I finally got inside, there was still no running water and no towel provided.
