Four Seasons Hotel & Residences Cartagena

I absolutely loved my stay at the Four Seasons Cartagena. The location is fantastic, very central and just a short distance from Cartagena’s beautiful Old City, which is such a magical place. The hotel is brand new, having opened earlier this year, so everything feels fresh and beautifully maintained. The property itself is very spacious, and the rooms are beautiful, comfortable, spotless and very well presented. What really stood out for me, however, was the service. The staff were exceptional, warm, attentive and extremely helpful, which is exactly the level of service you expect from Four Seasons. I also really enjoyed the spa. The facilities were excellent, and the staff there were incredibly friendly and helpful, making the whole experience very relaxing. Overall, I had a wonderful stay and really enjoyed my time there.

There were very few things I didn’t like about the hotel, but there are two areas that I feel could be improved. The first is the service around the swimming pool. The pool area itself is beautiful, but I felt that the level of service was not quite at the standard I normally associate with Four Seasons. Some of the staff attending the pool area seemed to need a little more training and experience to provide the polished and attentive service you would expect from a hotel of this level. This is a small point, but I think some additional training would make a noticeable difference. The second is the beautiful outdoor area near the spa, at the back of the hotel. It is a lovely space surrounded by trees, with seating areas where you could relax, read a book or simply enjoy some quiet time. Unfortunately, because Cartagena is so hot and humid, I found this area almost impossible to enjoy for any length of time, The heat and humidity in that area can be unbearable. Some form of ventilation or cooling system would make a huge difference and allow guests to make much better use of what is otherwise a beautiful part of the hotel. These were relatively small issues compared with what was otherwise a wonderful stay, but I think they are worth mentioning as they could make the overall experience even better.

Staff were very well trained from first greeting throughout the stay. They spoke great English, did their level best to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Breakfast staff were very helpful not only about the menu but answering our questions about the city. The trainer in the gym was fantastic and helped me with the machines. Superb! Top notch!

Bed was terrible There were people talking by right outside of our room from 10pm-12, I called front desk and nobody answered

There are hidden costs (10% tipping) that ARE MANDATORY and the guest is ONLY informed about this at the check-in !! Much too late ... Overall very expensive for what you get.
