Newly renovated, rooms were very nice, the common lounge area with games, coffee, fridge and big TV as well a balcony with Mountain View’s was exceptional as well as massive drying room (with boot dryer) for ski gear, there was also a mountain bike storage room that we didn’t use.
There was one small issue on checkin that was rectified straight away.

Luna Lodge is a beautiful property located near the center of Wanaka. It’s very well constructed. excellent build quality throughout and nice view of the mountains. There are many wonderful things to say about it. It’s well lit and there are creative lighting features around the beds and the bathroom mirror. There are an ample number of well-placed electrical outlets. Nice shower. Nice heated bathroom floors. The beds were excellent among the best I have experienced in a hotel/ledge type setting. The rooms are well ventilated with a nice heat pump.
There are a few less desirable features to the hotel. Starting with the bathroom, the sink is very small and as a result, water tends to spray everywhere. It’s difficult to wash ones hands and you can’t fit your fingertips easily behind the sink. These small sinks look attractive, but can be impractical. I should know because I installed one in my spare bedroom and regretted it ever since! Within the room, there is very little space for luggage, but there is some rack space to hang clothes on. The refrigerator is super small and the two rubbish bins in the room are also super small. Perhaps the most unfortunate thing is that there’s no microwave in the room. However there is a beautiful shared space with cutlery, plates, and coffee and tea. However, inexplicably there’s no microwave in the common space! So I ended up being stuck with instant oatmeal which I couldn’t microwave and later I had leftover pizza from a local restaurant which I couldn’t heat up. This was a real puzzle. Almost every place I stay at now will either have a microwave in the room or in the common room, or a microwave that is accessible to guests. I hope the hosts consider this. I think it could be an important addition.
