Onsen at Moncham is one of those places where almost everything comes together really well. From the rooms and cleanliness to the facilities and, most importantly, the service, the whole experience felt very well thought out.
The rooms are spacious, comfortable and beautifully designed with the Japanese ryokan concept. Having the option of a private onsen is definitely a highlight, but the shared onsen facilities are also very relaxing. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend a few hours doing absolutely nothing, which is exactly what I was looking for.
The restaurant was another pleasant surprise. There’s a good variety of Japanese, Thai and Western options, so you don’t really feel the need to leave the property for meals. The staff were genuinely warm and helpful throughout the stay, which made the whole experience even better.
The mountain setting is probably the biggest reason I’d recommend staying here. If you’re coming to Chiang Mai, I think spending two nights up in the mountains at Onsen at Moncham makes for a really nice little retreat; especially if you want to slow down, enjoy the cooler air, use the onsen and simply relax for a couple of days.

Honestly, this place is off the charts — if I could rate it 6 or 7 out of 5, I would. Everything is just amazing. The vibe is incredibly peaceful, the surroundings are beautiful and perfectly maintained, and the whole property feels intimate and charming without trying too hard.
The onsen experience is outstanding, especially the private onsen — truly relaxing and unique. The staff overall were great, and the atmosphere makes you instantly unwind.
The restaurant is exceptional, and the breakfast… wow. Easily one of the best breakfasts we’ve ever had — refined, generous, and absolutely delicious.
My wife and I loved every minute of our stay, and honestly, we wished we had booked one more night. We will definitely come back, and I would strongly recommend anyone traveling in the Chiang Mai area to stay here — it’s far more worth it than staying anywhere else in the city.
Nothing, really. If I had to mention something, the front desk staff could be just slightly more smiley — but that’s being extremely picky. Overall, there are genuinely no negative points.
