Not Worth Dealing With a Host Who Doesn’t Keep Their Word
Unfortunately, our stay was a very disappointing experience.
First of all, the apartment was extremely cold and none of the heaters were working properly. After contacting the host, she said she would solve the issue. However, when it was not resolved, I offered to buy a small heater from the store myself, and she agreed to reimburse me for it. The heater cost only 249 Rand, which is not a significant amount. However, after we checked out, she stopped replying to my messages. I contacted her again regarding the reimbursement, but unfortunately she chose not to respond.
The issue is not the amount of money. What disappointed me most was the attitude and lack of communication over such a small matter.
The apartment was also very cold and humid. During our stay, moisture and damp appeared on the ceiling, and because of the cold and humidity, our clothes and towels would not dry properly. We stayed for around ten nights and had to deal with the cold throughout most of our stay.
Another problem was that there was only one towel available, which we had to use for the entire stay. Because of the humidity, even that towel did not dry properly.
Communication with the host was also difficult. Replies often took around 8 to 10 hours, which made it hard to solve urgent issues during our stay.
Overall, this was an extremely disappointing experience. The location in Sea Point is good, but the apartment was cold, damp, poorly equipped, and the host’s communication after checkout was very poor.
I would not recommend staying here.
