It is one of the Norfolk Broads largest boat hire centres where you can enjoy river trips, hire a boat, enjoy some fishing, sailing, golf, cycling or walking with nature trails to follow. Sandy beaches can be found just twelve miles away and the City of Norwich with its beautiful cathedral, castle, museum, theatre and superb shopping is just eight miles. The village of Wroxham is home to Wroxham Barns, the Bure Valley Railway and Roys - the largest village store in the country. Here you will find riverside pubs, restaurants and shops that are just a short stroll from Waterside Retreat. The area of Wroxham is actually made up of two villages - Wroxham and Hoveton, split by a low bridge that spans the River Bure. Here you will find all your grocery needs with many products being sourced locally as well as a large department store – plenty of retail opportunities to indulge in and only a 5 minute walk. Within a 15 minute drive you could be at one of the glorious sandy Norfolk beaches or if city life is more your thing, then you could be in historic Norwich with a wealth of shopping opportunities and tourist attractions. The Broads is well known for its’ fishing activity – you should expect to find perch, pike, bream, rudd, eel and tench in the waters here. Fishing (subject to season and licence) can be enjoyed from the decking at all our properties. We would obviously be remiss if we didn’t mention the joy of just being out on the water. Within a couple of minutes walk from each property, it is easy to hire a boat by the hour, half day, day or longer. If you fancy a boat trip but without you being the Captain, there are a number of organised boat trips which leave from the centre of Wroxham or from nearby Horning.
