Avoid at all cost!
It looked nice on pictures and location was convenient. Don’t let pictures fool you!
Extremely disappointing experience. We travelled all day and arrived in the late afternoon looking forward to our stay in Slovakia. My colleagues were excited to visit the city, but unfortunately our first impression of the accommodation was shock at how dirty and unhygienic it was.
The apartment was filthy, dusty, and full of dead flies. There were crumbs on the floors and sofas, the pull-out bed and bedsheets were stained and covered in fur, and the surfaces throughout the apartment were thick with dust. The corridor leading to the apartments was also dirty and poorly maintained. The overall standard of cleanliness was completely unacceptable.
We immediately contacted the property representative. We were offered a cleaner, but after travelling all day we simply wanted to settle into accommodation that should have been clean and ready for guests before arrival. Guests should not have to wait for cleaners to make an apartment habitable. We were also told that the apartments were cleaned by the owner himself rather than professional cleaners, which was evident from the condition of the property.
The property then offered us a different apartment. It’s worth noting that we booked 2 apartments for 5 of us so this was the third location. We went to view it, hoping the situation would improve, but it was no better than the first one. This clearly showed that the issue was not a one-off oversight but a consistently poor standard across the accommodation. We should not have been expected to move between multiple apartments in search of basic cleanliness and hygiene.
We were advised to contact Booking.com regarding a refund, but when we did so, the owners refused it. This was particularly frustrating given the condition of the accommodation and the fact that the alternative apartment offered was equally unacceptable.
This was not simply a cleaning issue. It was a hygiene issue. The apartment was dirty, unhygienic, and not fit for guests upon arrival.
