Appartment was spacious.. 5 girls we all had our rooms. I like that the rooms were roughly the same size and offered the same amenities..so that was very good.
Maybe I didn’t do enough research beforehand, but the location was the biggest downside for me. It was very run-down. I understand that this may simply be what you should expect when staying within the medina, so perhaps my expectations were not quite aligned with the reality of the location. For me, however, it was definitely a no-go in terms of location.
That said, the apartment itself was actually very decent. It was spacious and comfortable. the bathrooms, the bath itself could be improved.. but either than that..all was ok.
Another major challenge was the address used for Uber service. It was extremely difficult, as drivers would often drop us off at completely different locations. I’m not sure what the issue was with the address, but it became a real frustration, particularly during the first few days. We eventually resolved it when another driver gave us the address of the local taxi rank, which worked much better. I do think the host should be aware of this and communicate it clearly to guests in advance. Since Uber cannot drive directly into the medina, guests should be given the correct drop-off point and instructions from the beginning. This would have saved us a lot of confusion and frustration.
We arranged a pick up taxi from the airport. some run down vehicle came to pick us. Absolutely nothing professional about the service. that was extremely disappointing. did not use the service on our return.
note its a good distance from where the drivers drop you off and the walk to Riaad itself. The local trolleys were used to transport our luggages to the riad. there is nothing luxurious about the experience.
Overall, if you have in mind a very luxurious or upscale location, you will be disappointed. However, if you can look past the surroundings and focus on the apartment itself, you’ll be fine. The apartment was much better than the location.
