It had a beautiful view of Lake Como. The apartment was lovely and clean. We stayed here in September and the weather was beautiful. Luckily, the fact that there was no air conditioning didn’t affect us at all.

It was a bit out of town, but we love to walk so it was not that big of a deal.

Nous aurions aimé avoir une information plus précise dans la description de l’endroit quant à la distance du centre de VARENNA. Toutefois Fabio a été d’une très grande aide pour nous expliquer les différents moyens pour s’y rendre et ce n’est pas très compliqué (ex: train).

Mary House was home away from home. Such a welcoming delight after flight delays and jet lag. Fabio, our host went over and above from before we left home until our departure. The communication and tips he provided were extremely helpful. When we arrived late in the evening we were so grateful to find pasta, sauce, bread, salad and wine which provided a delicious dinner without having to venture out. It was wonderful to enjoy the food and wine and relax on the terrace with incredible views and watch the sunset over Lake Como. Fabio also provided coffee, milk, cereal and cheese which was greatly appreciated the morning after. The location of Mary House was perfect for us within walking distance to the ferry and train station (slightly over a mile… which for us was great as we enjoy walking when we are traveling. Our first day after exploring Varenna we enjoyed a fabulous lunch at Fabio’s restaurant just up the hill from Mary House. The fresh pesto spaghetti was absolutely delicious! Fabio’s wife Teresa was lovely and the attended to our every need. We visited the restaurant again the evening before we left and had a wonderful bottle of white wine. Fabio is not only well versed in wines but he is an excellent chef and shared delicious appetizers with us as we relaxed on the restaurant terrace. We cannot say enough about Fabio and Teresa. We have traveled a lot and we both agreed that they are the very best hosts we have ever encountered. If you are looking for a place to enjoy all that Varenna and Lake Como have to offer do not hesitate to book Mary House. If you enjoy hiking as we do, the trailhead to Senterio del Viadante is in Varenna. It’s a beautiful hike that ends at Orrido de Bellano; and must to see! Thanks again to Fabio and Teresa for everything!
