The ONLY thing I can talk good about this property is the views. Views are beautiful especially when that is the first thing you see when you open your eyes.
Parking is not an issue and the street is very quiet. However, the parking is not private place of the property, it is an area in front of other properties where a car can be easily parked and at the same time will be in your view if you see from the balcony.
The property’s map location was incorrect—about a five-minute drive from the actual accommodation—which made arriving at night stressful. I had to call and message the owner several times for directions. Although she eventually helped us reach the property, she repeatedly said that other guests had no trouble finding it.
The listing advertised three bedrooms, but we could only find two, with no keys or access to another room. Our seventh guest therefore had to share a bed with the other children. If the lounge is being counted as the third bedroom, this should be clearly stated in the listing.
The property was also poorly maintained and need a thorough cleaning and better upkeep.
Payment arrangements were unclear. The owner had not requested payment, so I assumed my card would be charged. We checked out at 7 a.m., and I contacted her after reaching Ohrid around 11 a.m. She insisted on cash, saying in Macedonia only cash works, and threatened to track me using my car’s registration number. I asked for her bank details and transferred the payment immediately. She then wanted me to cancel the transfer because her account was not in euros and she would incur a fee etc.
During the trip, I started writing a review but discarded it before adding any comments. Apparently, a one-star rating still went through. The owner then sent abusive WhatsApp messages, making derogatory remarks about Indians, calling me “insane” for the rating, and telling me to get myself checked. I am not Indian, and I felt she had made an assumption about my nationality based on my skin colour. Regardless of my nationality, those comments were unacceptable.
More unpleasant exchanges followed my Booking.com complaint. My main concern was her response to criticism: personal insults and threats instead of addressing issues. Read her replies to other negative reviews before booking.
