Beautiful village, awful experience, unhelpful owner
• Three sets of towels were provided
• Free parking nearby on the main road

I booked this apartment for one night for three people – myself and my elderly parents in their 80s. It turned out to be a rather stressful and unpleasant experience.
We indicated that we expected to arrive between 4 and 5 pm and we arrived around 4.30 pm in the rustic village of Randens. We found the road (Rue des Jardins) but could not find the address, which turned out to be in Aiguebell, on the other side of the river, and without any numbering outside the building. We asked around 20 locals in Randens and Aiguebell, going backwards and forwards several times, sometimes on foot (35 degrees outside). Nobody knew the place, even after checking on their cell phones. We phoned the proprietor several times, including with the help of a few kind locals. He hung up several times and then said we must contact him via whatsapp. A persistent French lady contacted him on whatsapp and received some minimal information about the venue which was totally different to that indicated via booking.com. If it had not been for her kindness and perseverence, we would never have found the property. Maybe the proprietor does not want it to be found, having already taken the payment. We finally entered the apartment at 8pm, just after the local shops had closed.
The property itself turned out to be on the second floor of a building with a treacherous stairway. Very difficult for my mother. Thankfully, we survived without any accidents.
Other negatives:
• The apartment smelled of drains
• No glassware, cups or plates
• No wifi code, despite free wifi promised
• No TV channels, likely due to absence of internet
• Floor was dirty
• Shower mat was dirty and inadequate
