The spa, the location and value are the reasons to select this listing. The apartment is super convenient to the train station, and not too far from the things we wanted to explore. Easy access to shopping and dining too. In the pictures, the spa looked like it might be a small inflatable - so we were super thrilled that it's a full size hard sided hot tub, a true luxury! The apartment is definitely unique between the sunken terrace and the layout, and there are some truly nice touches.
Overall, for a couple nights to explore Carcassonne - this apartment was just fine and a great value. And being on the first floor with just a single flight of stairs was a treat.
The washer/dryer is not actually in the apartment - but in a small room on the entry floor. It's not made clear if this is for exclusive use of the apartment or for the entire building. There were a couple detergent bottles next to the washer, but both were completely empty. So we ended up not doing our laundry here.
The bedroom is very basic - with just a single clothing rack with four hangers, and no where to stow luggage for two people. The sofa was also pretty uncomfortable for sitting on - the cushions constantly sliding out.
But communication was probably our biggest issue. First the host communicated both through Booking and through SMS (thank goodness we have unlimited international TXT messaging on our plan) - so we had needed information scattered in different places, and deep within huge graphical PDFs hosted on Google Drive (so do preload this in advance so you have codes at the ready).
Next, a couple hours before official checkin time we received a message that the apartment was ready early - and we could arrive early IF we left 20 Euros on the table. We totally understand charging more for REQUESTING early check-in, as that could incur extra costs for cleaning schedules. But what extra costs merit 20 Euros for arriving a bit earlier to an already ready apartment? That's a first for us after over a decade of STRs - most hosts just warmly welcome you to arrive when the unit is ready.
And after our stay, we got a message from the host requesting a 'good review' in exchange for a future discount -so be skeptical of all of the perfect reviews you might find on this place.

Literally incredible value for money. Beautiful flat, spacious clean, with great amenities and obviously the jacuzzi stole the show! We had a great time here and the host was very responsive if we had any questions while we were there. In a great location and feels very safe. I highly recommend to anyone staying in Carcassonne or nearby!

El alojamiento és amplio y decorado con gusto. El jacuzzi ha sido un puntazo. Tiene buena ubicación muy céntrico y a 15 min de la cité. Próximo a tiendas y supermercados.
La nevera resulta un poco pequeña si decides utilizar el apartamento para algunas comidas. No pudimos utilizar el congelador por lo pequeño que era. En una zona de vinos, quizás deberia haber un abridor de botellas.
