Hotels in Oslo can be very expensive, so this is a good option if you are comfortable staying in a private room inside the host’s apartment. In my case, I was in Oslo for work and sightseeing, so I mainly needed a place to sleep and take a shower, and it worked perfectly for me.
The room was generally quiet. If you keep the window open until around 11 p.m., you may hear people talking outside and the tram passing by, but it became very quiet later at night and I slept very well.
The location is excellent, right in central Oslo, with train and bus connections nearby. There are also supermarkets, restaurants and McDonald’s within walking distance.
Communication with the host, Rikard, was mainly through WhatsApp, and he was always helpful and responsive. The room has a refrigerator, microwave and kettle. The bathroom, toilet and washing machine are shared, and even laundry detergent was provided.
Interestingly, I stayed for five nights without ever meeting the host in person! Still, everything worked smoothly, and I slept very well in this truly “charming room.” I would especially recommend it to solo travelers looking for an affordable stay in central Oslo.
At first, I was a little confused about how to collect the keys. It felt almost like a small treasure hunt! Once I understood the system, though, everything was fine.
And unfortunately, I never got to find out whether Rikard himself was as charming as the room — we never actually met!

Charming room is really worth the money!
I stayed in Oslo for four days, due to the marathon and came by train - I would recommend getting off at "Nationaltheatret Stasjon" since this is the closest.
You get a nice place to sleep while you explore the city. Everything is so close and in a walkable distance.
The host Rikard is a very nice and humble person, who gave me all the informations needed for a pleasant stay. It was nice to know about all the facilities and also getting recommendations for places to eat out.
(Got the best sushi/salmon at "Alex Sushi" - further down the street)
The room is very cozy, clean and aesthetically pleasing. I had some great sleep and thought it was silent enough. It is in the middle of the city and therefore you are able to sometimes hear something outside. I felt very safe in the area and thought it was easy getting in and out from the building.
You dont really have to think about that much, since you get a nice place to sleep, a great warm shower, towels, microwave, small fridge, bin and also a table for all your stuff.

The bedroom and bathroom are very proper and neat, with all the commodities needed (hairdryer, towels, laundry machine and dryer). The bedding is very confortable. The neighborhood is central yet very silent.
Rikard has been a perfect host throughout my stay! He welcomed me in person even though I arrived at the apartment in the middle of the night at 1am; and he was super reactive and helpful when I encountered personal issues, like losing my cellphone!
I totally recommend!
