Don't Expect to Get Your €500 Deposit Back!

Very Disappointing Experience – Be Careful with Your Deposit! We stayed at Villa for four nights as a group of four adults (including seniors) and two children. The villa looked beautiful, modern and relatively new. Although there were no previous reviews on Booking.com at the time of booking, everything looked professional and legitimate, and we had no reason to expect any problems. Unfortunately, our experience turned out to be extremely disappointing. We arrived late in the evening, at around 11:30 PM, and checked ourselves in using a code to access a key lockbox. There was no staff member present to welcome us or show us around the property. After checking out at the end of our four-night stay, we received a message just a few hours later accusing us of having damaged the freezer door front and a shelf inside the refrigerator. The company then withheld an unbelievable €430 from our €500 security deposit! We strongly deny causing any of this damage. These items were already damaged before our arrival, but since nobody was there to check us in or document the condition of the property with us, we had no reason to take photographs of every single appliance, shelf or potential defect when we arrived. We were simply held responsible for damage that we did not cause. What makes the situation even worse is that €430 was deducted from our deposit without first providing us with a proper explanation or clear evidence establishing why we were being charged this amount. €430 for alleged damage to a freezer door and a refrigerator shelf is an outrageous amount! Our advice to future guests: be extremely careful before booking this property and paying the security deposit. Do not assume that your deposit will be returned, even if you leave the property in good faith and have not caused any damage. Photograph and document absolutely everything upon arrival. We cannot recommend this company or Villa Ray based on our experience.
