The property was exceptionally clean and well presented, as described and in a good location.
This is the first stay through any third party website that we have had to sign a contract before being allowed access to the property despite already paying upfront full for it. There is no mention on purchasing on booking.com of the contact that appears only following booking it or the pages of instructions. The contract was intense and came across quite demanding. It was pages long and I think I had something along the lines of 6 emails following choosing the stay. The contract made us feel uneasy and did not make us feel welcomed into the property. It was all quite demanding and in capital letters that did not come across friendly or inviting. It felt that every “demand” had a price cost attached if we didn’t adhere to it, which felt quite threatening to us. We feel we are reasonable people and always offer to strip beds and keep the places we stay clean as a minimum but we just felt it put us at unease before we had even arrived. Even though the contract stating that these “instructions” were simple. We spent the two days walking around the property weary that we would step a foot wrong. Had we had time to cancel after receiving the contract we would have. The property was lovely and as described but I have never experienced having to sign such an in depth contract prior to a stay through booking.com and we have stayed in many places across the UK and US. I also feel if you expect such a high standard including doing a load of washing before check out, a later check out should be allowed .
