A beautifully restored property with breathtaking views, clearly designed by someone with an eye for detail and mid-century antiques. But our stay was unfortunately marred by a couple of fairly serious issues that prevented us from having a 5-star experience.
I was travelling with my 80 year old mother who has mobility issues. We booked this property because it has an elevator. After we arrived, the elevator wasn't working. We asked the owner if there was something we needed to turn on and they informed us the elevator doesn't work and there is no way to fix it. We understand that it can be tough to get tradespeople out to rural areas, but the owners did not mention the issue prior to arrival, or offer any solution after we raised it. There are multiple flights of stairs and our relaxing break between Roma and Napoli suddenly became a stressful challenge for my elderly mother.
Additionally, guests should be aware that a sewage smell is noticeable throughout the home, but the bottom floor is genuinely very, very pungent. We appreciate the challenge of restoring properties in older communities, but the sewage smell in the lower floor of this very lovely home is truly overpowering. I live in a small town in rural South America and am surrounded by poultry, pig and cattle farms. I am accustomed to strong odors and every property we've stayed at in Italy has at least some sewer smell, but this was overwhelming even for me.
