NOT RECOMMENDED

The house itself has a cozy interior, well located near the sea. On looks alone we'd have been very happy here, and we came wanting to enjoy it.

Unfortunately, the property's condition made it unworkable for us. A strong pesticide smell was present throughout the house, including the children's bedroom, and never cleared during our stay. One bathroom was out of service due to a technical fault. The dishwasher didn't work. There were mice in the kitchen, which got into our food — we couldn't store food in the cupboards because of the smell, or leave it on the surfaces because of the mice. We reported all of this to the owner early on. Nothing was fixed. Partway through the stay, one child and one adult developed allergic reactions that began after we moved in, and at that point we decided to leave early and find other accommodation. We gave notice, respected the cancellation terms, and left the house clean. On the day of departure, a rude Lady owner came to the property and, rather than acknowledging the outstanding problems, was confrontational and blamed us for leaving. We explained calmly that we were following the cancellation rules and that our priority was our children's health. She also made a big performance of trying to fix some issues, like the dishwasher, or accepting the smell but saying "It is not so strong, it is OK". At the end, she stated that the dishwasher works now. Nice that she found a time to fix at least something on the day of departure and ignored issues during our stay. Other issues remained. The house has real potential, but it needs to be properly maintained — pesticide fully cleared, pest control done, bathroom and dishwasher repaired — before it's offered for rent again. As it stands, another family will run into the same problems we did.
