I stayed at Uba no yu on my first trip to Naruko, and the warmth and kindness of the staff made me feel so welcome. It’s a tree-lined walk from the train station, but they also have parking if you drive. The rooms are very comfortable, and staying here feels like a quiet step back into traditional Japan. I was so happy to hear they recently renovated and reopened—it’s such a lovely, effortless spot to relax and explore.
You can try different natural hot springs right at the ryokan. And since Naruko is the birthplace of kokeshi dolls, it was an absolute dream for a kokeshi lover like me! There are so many cute artisan shops and local cafes nearby, too.
Thank you for making my first visit so special. I’ll definitely be back with my family!
